INTRODUCTION

Nowadays, virus H1N1 and SARS are spreading from person-to-person worldwide. H1N1 is virus was originally refered to as “swine flu” because laboratory testing showed that many of genes in this new virus were very similar to influenza viruses that normally occur in pigs (swine in the North). Meanwhile, Severe Acute Syndrome (SARS) is a respiratory disease in human which is caused by the SARS based on three aspects, causes, symptoms and treatments.

SARS disease was started in Guangdong Province, China in November 2002. The first care of SARS was reportedly originated in Shunde, Foshan, Guangdong in November 2002. And the first patient is a farmer, that was treated in the first People Hospital of Fashan, that his name is Mckay Dennis. Countries that showed the higher case of SARS are China that has 5324 case, Taiwan with 346 case, Canada with 251 case and Singapore with 238 case.

While H1N1 was started in Veracrus, Mexico in April 2009. For the first report H1N1 was called as a Fluview. The countries that showed higher case of SARS are United Stated and Mexico. In Mexico, the H1N1 was believed to have started from a butchering place by a 17 years old butcher boy. The boy was believed having a human flu. This because butchering pigs which contained the swine flu which the causes of H1N1 disease. H1N1 also is a disease that causing more illness to people compare to SARS disease.

CAUSES Of H1N1 AND SARS

Like most illnesses, the swine flu virus is caused by factors that people should be aware, so they can avoid the flu like the plague. While the virus of H1N1 called swine flu, people however cautioned against relating the virus to pigs and eating pork. For as long as meat products coming from pigs are cooked properly, it cannot infect people with the HN1 flu virus. World Health Organization(WHO) official Keiji Fukuda also said the spread of the virus has not been linked with eating pork or with close contact with pigs. Doctors have confirmed that a virus is causing the swine flu. This new swine flu virus is capable of being transmitted from person to person and is contiguous. A person who has been infected by the virus can already infect others even before he develops the symptoms. The virus is passed on from one person to another through coughing and sneezing. The germ which is released into the air can be transmitted to another person through the air they breath and enter the body through the mouth, nose and eyes.

The virus also can even be transmitted through ATM buttons, doorknobs and similar surfaces where the virus can rest. These hard surfaces can be resting ground for the swine flu virus and when a person makes contact with this area, and then touches his eyes, nose or mouth, then the virus is transmitted. A person who has swine flu can be contagious from one day before they show symptoms to seven days after they get sick. Children can be contagious for as long as 10 days.

Meanwhile scientists have determined that SARS is caused by new form of the coronavirus never seen before in humans. On April 16, 2003, the World Health Organization(WHO) announced that it believes the new coronaviruses, that called as “SARS virus” causes SARS( Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). Coronavirus are a common cause of light respiratory illnesses in humans, but researchers believe that this coronavirus may have mutated, that have a potential to threatening human health.

Close contact with a person who are already infected with SARS, including contact with infection droplets also are the method of transmission. Most people who infected with this disease during 2003 are get this disease during travel to endemic area. Unfortunately, it had been found that the virus to live on hands, tissues, and other surfaces for up to 6 hours in its droplets form which this make the disease more spreading over human.

THE SYMPTOMS OF H1N1 AND SARS

H1N1 Symptoms

In early of 2009,a new seasonal virus known as H1N1 that was the new strain of swine flu was discovered. That causes were combination of three main factors such as swine, avian and human influenza viruses. Before this, the people who were in direct contact with pigs will mainly affected with this world pandemic viruses.Nowadays, the condition become extraordinary because the viruses will affect to anyone eventhough we had never been used any pork product. We can discover the symptoms of H1NI swine influenza has the very similar to another seasonal influenza.People were advised to see the medical practitioners when they got the symptoms such as, cough, high fever ,sore throat, stuffy or runny nose, body illness, headaches, muscle and joint pains, diarrhoeaand vomitting

SARS Symptoms

The symptoms of SARS can be very similar to those of other influenza. In Asia, the first case of SARS was first mentioned to public by early 2003.In general,SARS will start with a high fever with the temperature up to more than (>100.4 F)If you develop these symptoms and have travelled to the list of SARS affected areas as identified by World Health Organization(WHO) or have been a direct contact of persons diagnosed with SARS, please seek immediate medical treatment.

We can identified the earliest symptom of SARS by the sign of these high fever with or without muscle aches, some patients may also have chills, headache, shivering spells, cough( After 3 to 7 days, patients may start to cough and experience of breathing difficulties, and X-ray changes of pneumonia, usually after a further 3 to 4 days)

TREATMENT

SARS and H1N1 viruses are the dangerous diseases which has been widespread to our country and had caused worried to all people in Malaysia. Those people who are suspected cases of SARS and H1N1 can still be treated with are applicable treatment method to heal both disease.

Treatment that can be applied to treat SARS is by to give patients supportive with antipyretics, supplemental oxygen and ventilator support as needed. This treatment will help them breath more easier and can relieve some sense of pain on the disease. Beside that, suspected of SARS must be isolated from other person. This is because it can avoid the disease continue to spread. The patients must be isolated in a pressure rooms, with complete barrier nursing precautions.

Moreover, applicable other treatment is by giving anecdotal support for steroid and the antiviral drug ribavirin. This treatment can be used to treat viruse that came from SARS but no published evidence has supported this therapy.

On the other hand, for H1N1 viruses they also have a lot of treatment that can be used to treat this virus. The treatment are we need to have air purifies, medical supplies and medication. This is because when we are sick with flu-like illness, we must stay at home for at least 24 hour after your fever is gone and keep away from other as much as possible.

Furthermore, we can use this step to protect our health. The first step are we need to wash our hands often with soap and water using soap or alcohol-based hand rub. Second step is we must avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth because germs more easier to spread by this way. After that, we must avoid to have close contact with sick people.

We also must follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds and other social interaction. If you get sick, you must stay at home for a week and avoid the need to make trips out in public while you are sick. Besides that, we must keep away from other people as much as possible. We need to cover our mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing and put our used tissue in the waste basket. Then, clean our hand and do so every time you cough or sneeze.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, H1N1 is similar to SARS but H1N1 is more pandemic. It is not of local concern in one nation boarders, it is in fact, a global concern, or it should be. This statement implies cooperation of nations and understanding for the pandemic H1N1, where every human being in this world is concerned, to be protected.

When swine flu was first identitified it sent the world into a panic, then the World Health Organisation declared it a pandemic. The H1N1 virus, as it came to be known, has since spread to 206 countries and overseas territories around the globe. More than 6700 people have died, and over 70 million vaccines have been distributed. Influenza A H1N1 also caused many deaths in the influenza pandemic in 1918-1919 about 50 million people.

People must be alert about this issue and take know how it spread and occur. Thus they can take prevention earlier before they are late because prevention is better than cure.

Althought H1N1 is more pandemic but both of these diseases are dangerous and kill human life. The ministry of heath should take the responsibility to tell the people about the symptoms and prevention. This can be tell through the media and education in school. Teacher also play the role about this diseases with teach the students about the prevention.
